Kane Valley
This 20 km stretch of road has a lot of Mountain Bluebirds, House Wrens, and woodpeckers.
House Wren
they use bluebirds' nest boxes after they have fledged at this time of year.
Mountain Bluebird
A few patches of forests are particularly popular for birds to nest. At one of the bird apartments, consisted of 3 birches, there are many holes from previous years and this year there are three families of tenants.
Northern Flicker
the male of the pair spends more time around the nest thank the female. No chicks yet.
Red-naped Sapsucker
they are bringing back food, but are also doing some renovations.

Western Grebes
Western and Clark's Grebes have the ability to walk on water.
It all starts when one answers another's call.
Some of these individuals look like Clark's, but I think they resemble Western more.
they take turns dipping their beaks into and splash water.
then off they go, sprinting 10 meters or more. They molt during nesting season so many of their feathers have now grown out yet.
Grebes' feet are closer to the back than most birds so they are awkward on land.
